North East regional chair - Dr Tim Butler

Dr Butler is a GP in Stanley in County Durham.  He is also a local clinical lead in Diabetes and runs a community diabetes clinic.  He is a qualified statistician and still retains an honorary clinical lectureship in medicine at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne where he was a lecturer of medical statistics for several years in his early career.   He is a honorary member of staff at his local Acute Hospital where he supports diabetes clinics.   He has numerous research articles and has focussed on metabolic and nutrition research.  He specialises in the modelling of insulin secretion rates.   He sat on the editorial board for the international journal Clinical Endocrinology for several years as the statistical editor and more recently is on the editorial board of the Primary Care Cardiovascular Journal.
